Komposisjonskonkurranse - IFCM

IFCM has announced the 2nd International Competition for Choral Composers. The winning composer will receive a Prize of 5.000 EUR and the winning composition will be performed by the Philippine Madrigal Singers and used in a workshop with Voces8. WORLD CHORAL SUMMIT - BEIJING, 2012 “VOICES IN HARMONY”
YOU ARE INVITED!
IFCM’s World Choral Summit, in Beijing, July 15-21, 2012, in conjunction with the 11th China International Choral Festival and Competition, will be a remarkable event.
Over thirty choral leaders from throughout the world have agreed to share ideas and ways to enhance communication and cooperation within the choral world, especially with their counterparts in China. Five stunning invited choirs from five continents - Gondwana Voices (Australia), Grupo Canto Coral(Argentina), Vokalna Akademia Ljubliana (Slovenia), Young People's Chorus of New York (USA) and the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University Choir (South Africa) will perform and offer workshops of music unique to their part of the world. A recently formed IFCM initiative, the Asia Pacific Youth Choir, which draws together the best young choristers from around the Asia-Pacific Region, will also perform as a true example of the Summit's theme "Voices in Harmony".

The Herbert von Karajan Music Prize 2011 WINNER ANNOUNCED
On November 11, 2011, IFCM Honorary Patron Helmuth Rilling joined such luminaries as Anne Sophie Mutter, Evgeny Kissin, Daniel Barenboim, Valery Gergiev, Thomas Quasthoff, and the Berlin Philharmonic when he was awarded the prestigious international Herbert von Karajan Music Prize. The prize-giving ceremony took place in Baden Baden, Germany, on the occasion of a gala concert at the Festspielhaus conducted by Rilling himself (Bach Cantata BWV 70 “Wachet, Betet” and Mozart Requiem in Robert Levine’s version). The prize money of 50,000 Euros must be used for music training and development of young talents. Congratulations to Helmuth from the IFCM community for his life-time of commitment and achievements in choral music making.
WORLD YOUTH CHOIR PERFORM AT THE NOBEL PEACE AWARD CEREMONY – OSLO, NORWAY
The World Youth Choir, a pilot project of IFCM in cooperation with Jeunesses Musicales and European Choral Association - Europa Cantat, has been invited to sing at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo on December, 11, 2011. This concert reaches potentially about 350 million people in 120 countries.
The invitation also includes a performance at the official Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony on December, 10th in the renovated Oslo City Hall and a concert at the Oslo University’s Ceremonial Hall on December, 9th. Under the baton of Norwegian conductor Grete Pedersen, 60 singers of the World Youth Choir from 40 different countries hosted by Jeunesses Musicales Norway, will perform music by J. S. Bach, J. Brahms, A.Schoenberg, P.Noorgard, G. Larsen.
